Meet the Author

Hi, I’m Marc Angelo Fernandez the author of this blog.

I am a Mathematics degree holder from Ateneo de Manila University, one of the top universities here in the Philippines.

I was a former Math Competitor my high school days competing to different mathematical competitions such as Mathematics Teachers Association of the Philippines (MTAP) Challenge, Philippine Math Olympiad (PMO), and Sipnayan. I participated as a coach in Ateneo Mathematics Olympiad teaching mathematically talented students from Grade School.

Employer 3: I am currently working as a Senior Research Analyst / Competitive Intelligence Analyst (CIA) in a Business Process Outsourcing Firm providing competitive intelligence analysis of the competitors of a major client in the IT industry handling the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA) region.

Employer 2: I was formerly a Research Analyst of a law firm reporting as a staff extension supporting the North America Financial Restructuring, Creditors’ Rights and Bankruptcy Practice Group where I report Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings and financially burdened companies direct to the Managing Partner and Chairman of the Bankruptcy Practice Group.

Employer 1: I was also involved in a due diligence and asset management of billion-peso worth portfolio of distressed investments composed of non-performing loans and foreclosed idle assets in a multinational asset management firm for a large Special Purpose Vehicle, a type of a vulture fund, set up by one of the former largest investment banks in the world.

I’m an achiever and goal-oriented person.

I was not born with a silver spoon just like a lot of ateneans. I was just an average guy like you striving hard to earn a decent income from his job living a simple life with no car, no aircon at home, etc. Time will come I will invest in real estate to have huge passive income and establish my own business someday.

“I will do today what other people won’t so that I can have tomorrow what other people can’t.”

Above is my favorite quote. It shows the comparison and contrast between will – won’t and can – can’t which means you need to be different from the rest for you to achieve success.

“The man who has made up his mind to win will never say impossible.”

My long-term goal is to settle abroad, either in US or Europe. I am interested in any career opportunities that would present itself in these particular continents most especially in Investment Banking. I also plan to have my own business someday.
